Description
Born from real-life experience on the water, the Oysterman Hat was designed by Quaker Marine Supply founder and Coast Guard veteran Joe Kadison with one goal: function first. And it delivers—beautifully.
The standout feature? A generously extended 4¾" brim, nearly 50% longer than a standard cap, for real sun protection. The black, water-repellent top is the same polished material found on officer caps—chosen to shed spray, not soak it in.
Unlike today’s typical six-panel hats, the Oysterman uses a four-panel design for a lower profile and reduced wind resistance. With eight ventilation eyelets and sturdy canvas construction, it’s made to last through sun, salt, and season after season. The dark green faux-leather underbrim helps cut glare off the water, too.
This is a hat made for boaters—not boardrooms. But with its timeless, utilitarian style, don’t be surprised if it turns a few heads onshore.
Shaping the Brim:
For the best success in shaping the brim, we recommend heating it with use of steam, or simply by leaving it on a sunny windowsill. Then mold to your liking!
Cleaning
When it eventually does get dirty through hard wear on the open seas, spot clean with soap and water — or just dunk it in the nearest body of water and let it dry in the sun.
