by John Jamieson
You don't need to learn EVERYTHING from your mistakes. Why not take the advice of John Jamieson, who spent 23 years in the US Coast Guard? He holds master and mate licenses for power and sail, and directed the seamanship and chart nav dept of the Chapman School of Seamanship.
Jamieson gives scenarios, tips to deal with them, and a "it's your call, skipper" situations for you to think about how you'd deal with the 'task' at hand.

It is a book, not to be read but to be studied. Some of the information in the back of the book I pretty much had a handle on but am glad for the reinforcement. Other parts of the book I will have to study and re-study. It has a valuable place in my library right next to Chapman.
