Description

Be sure to select PRINT or DIGITAL when you order.

A step-by-step construction manual for this very popular Joel White design, for oar and sail. Part of the popularity is due to the ease of construction, especially the bow. This instruction book is beneficial for anyone who wishes to build the pram from scratch using WoodenBoat's full-scale plans, but it does start the build process after all the parts are cut-out. If you would like a more detailed look at the process, including pictures of how to construct the laminated center frame as well as make oars, then consider the book on building the Shellback Dinghy

We also have full-sized pre-cut kits, a video, a model kit and building plans.

Beaut boat.

Great plans with a lot of thought gone into the compound curves and sizing of the planks.

Not an "instant boat"

I have built probably six or more 'stitch and glue' small boats and kayaks, and wondered about the Nutshell designs. I found out from this booklet that they are built with the traditional method over a strongback, screws holding joints, not an epoxy fillet and fiberglass cloth tape. This method is considerably more work than a Bolger/Payson boat. This is fine if you're up for that. If you want a simple to build eight footer, check out Bolger's Nymph.
