15'6" outboard skiff
Designed by Joel White, the original boat was built plank-on-frame by Jimmy Steele (of Peapod fame), but no plans were ever drawn--until now. Tom Hill and Eric Dow have taken lines off the original boat and Tom built the prototype and has drawn a very detailed set of plans for strip construction, including full-sized mold patterns (so no lofting is required).
Here's a video on how the original was developed including interviews with Aaron Porter and Tom Hill. Plus you'll see this pretty boat in action.
And another getting the hull together by the folks in Saginaw Bay, at the sbcsa.org:
Take a look at this video (7+ minutes) showing a crazy nice Jericho Bay, built by Shearline Boatworks of Morehead City, North Carolina:
Beam: 5' 2 1/2"
Power: 15-20 hp outboard (short shaft)
Weight: 400 lbs
Skill needed: Intermediate
Plans include 15 sheets, plus a 1 page materials list.
No lofting required
WoodenBoat magazines 210 and 211 have a two-part how to build article (see below).
“Your downloads are ready” will be the subject line of an email you’ll receive from us—once we’ve processed your digital order. That email has the link to click, so you can then download the file.
This isn't an "instant" process, so if we're asleep, you may need to wait for regular business hours, for us to process the order. Although we are quite timely, we may not be processing on weekends & holidays.
Ive loved this sweet skiff since the first time l saw it several years ago! I watched a video of the construction process as well as one finished -gracing upon the water. Wow!
The plans came available , so l bought them at a great price- thank you!!
Look forward to building one myself.😉
Excellent plans with full sized patterns for hull molds. Wonderful project for amateur home builders.
So much fun building this boat, beautiful classic lines that draws crowds and constant comments at the boat launch and also on the water (literally). Highly recommended. The plans say intermediate skill level but I was first-time builder and built it with no problem. Get the two WBM issues Sept/Oct 2009 and Nov/Dec 2009, this boat is the cover story and the article walks thru the build step-by-step in detail, which was invaluable. Good Luck!
Now the fun begins
