If you've been doing a little boat dreaming, this book by Mike O'Brien might just help you find your focus. Good Sailboat Designs is a compilation of some of Mike's favorites for camp-cruising, daysailing, and weekenders, culled from Boat Design Quarterly which he published from 1991 to 2019.

Mike's design commentaries are well worth the read as you'll not only learn... you'll enjoy.

  •                          Praise for Good Sailboat Designs:

It’s the best explanation [of hull lines] that I’ve ever read. O’Brien’s writing reflects a deep understanding of boats and the joy they give to him.

    – Dennis Caprio, former editor of Small Boat Journal and senior editor at Yachting

Mike O'Brien makes boats, each and every one he writes about, indelible for me. You can’t find drawings like these, and become exposed to Mike’s encyclo-practic grasp of boats, anywhere better than in his very own publication.

    – Jim Brown, multihull designer and author

    Review of Good Sailboat Designs

I have spent a small amount of time perusing the book, and am really impressed by the quality of the diagrams and descriptions. There are at least two boats I'm interested in building in the future. It's a great resource!
