You may be aware of writer John Hodgman from The Daily Show, or from the Apple "I'm a Mac, I'm a PC" commercials. Or from his Judge John Hodgman podcast. Or you've read his earlier humor books, like "The Areas of My Expertise". That's not what's going on here with Vacationland. And although "Vacationland" is on our license plates, the entire book is not set in Maine. It takes a bit to get to that neck of the woods, but it is about the journey afterall. And the journey is humorous, and yes, you may turn heads when you laugh aloud if reading in a public place. It may even surprise you that it's quite a heartfelt, honest book. Mr. Hodgman does not name the small town in Maine he refers to in the book. But he mentions it was the home of a famous writer, whose son started a boatyard, and whose grandson now runs the yard.
