Kirby's Pine Tar: Pint
Years ago, I proudly served on one of the original crews of Pilgrim II, Dana Point, California. Made to be a replica of Richard Henry Dana's vessel when he wrote "Two Years Before the Mast". 18th-19th century knots, lines, worm/parcel/serve. Fell in love with the tarred marline. Pine Tar and Turpentine. The aroma is that of the olden times on the sea. Good Stuff!
Pleased to report that this pine tar is thick and of a high quality, and ideal for my purposes. I mixed 2 parts tar with one part each of boiled linseed oil and varnish, in order to slush down the flat edge of 30 feet of manila baggywrinkle. Great stuff.
