"Cruising Life in the Slow Lane, on Sheltered Inland Waterways" is the tag-line for several of the late Phil Thiel's Canal Boat designs. Thanks to the help of Chris Cunningham (see his article in WB #222), we are now offering plans for ESCARGOT and FRIEND-SHIP, 18'6" and 22'9" canal boats. Plans are available as digital downloads, and you can print on 11x17 (tabloid) paper. You'll be hearing more from Chris Cunningham this September. Yes, that's a teaser.
Here's something that doesn't happen too often: The book American Marine Engines has dropped in price, and supply is limited. If that topic is of special interest to you, don't dilly-dally.
And another "insider trading" scoop... Iain Oughtred plans prices will increase this September. The rates change on all of his plans, and, for example, the Caledonia Yawls will go from $190 to $291, the 11'9" Acorn Skiffs will go from $110 to $168. To see all of the Iain designs we offer, click Oughtred Plans. As we said about that American Marine Engines book, prices going down doesn't happen too often.
This weekend is the annual Eggemoggin Reach Regatta which starts and finishes at our WoodenBoat waterfront. If you're within driving or sailing distance, do drop in as our anchorage will be packed with beautiful boats. While it's hard to see much of the action during the actual race, if you've got a canoe or kayak to toss in the water, you'll get to paddle around some nifty boats before and after the race.
And finally, here's your last reminder that we're holding two benefit dinners and the last day for tickets is August 11. The lobster dinner here at the WoodenBoat Campus, is on Saturday August 16, and the BBQ on Friday the 15th, at the Brooklin Fire Department in the center of "town".
