June 18, 2014To: WoodenBoat Devotees
Just in time for summer, we revived our classic White T-shirt with Blue silkscreening. This shirt is one of the super-soft "Comfort Colors" brand (same as our big logo color Ts) guaranteed to make you feel like a million bucks, for a noticeably lower price.
Another new item arrived this past week: our fleece vests. This time around they're either Black or Maroon. The Black has the WoodenBoat logo (and name) embroidered in a Dark Red color-fast thread, and the Maroon vests have Dark Black thread. (Okay, it's just Black thread, but Dark Black sounded a bit more intriguing.) The other nice feature about these vests is the wallet-friendly price.
If you are supporting your local bookshop or newsstand by getting your WoodenBoat magazine there, the new July/August issue should now be available. And, if you want to save yourself some money, a subscription will save you some cash. AND subscribing for two or three years at a wack saves you even more.
If you're a fan of the "Getting Started in Boats" series in WoodenBoat, the 47th Getting Started issue is included in the latest WoodenBoat, plus it's available as a separate Digital Download for a whopping $1.95. It's all about "making fast", and it's not related to octane.
We are very pleased to let you know that Boat Design Quarterly magazine is now available as a digital download. So far, publisher and long-time WoodenBoat magazine editor Mike O'Brien has made issues #38 thru the current #43 available as digis. Each edition packs four or five different designs into the 24-page publication There will be more back-issues in the future, and we promise not to keep it a secret when they become available.
The word about the WoodenBoat Show (coming up in just over a week) is, it's packed... all of the land and water exhibitor spots are taken, and they're having to turn-away exhibitors. Do stop-in and say hello. Our WoodenBoat Store, School, and Editorial tent is on the green (facing the water) and aside from all the clothing and tools and books we're bringing, we've also decided to bring some Maine weather. Finally, there's a company willing to do something about the weather.
And lastly, if you too have noticed the wooden boat community can be a supportive, even tight knit group, you'll see the latest manifestation in the form of donations for a yard in near Oslo in Norway, which recently had a devastating fire. People from all over are making donations via the wonders of PayPal, to help-out Ole. For more info, see our WoodenBoat Forum's OLE thread.
