The new Getting Started in Boats is now available as a digital download. This issue features the words and artwork of Jan Adkins on the topic of sailing blades. Jan is ideally suited for Getting Started as he makes his living as an "explainer." If you're not familiar with his books, you might want to take a peek at two of his most popular: Moving Heavy Things, and The Craft of Sail.

Another book you might want to take a look at is Dynamite Payson's Keeping the Cutting Edge. We mention this as it was originally published 30 years ago, and another printing just arrived here in Brooklin. Illustrated by Sam Manning (of How to Build a Wooden Boat and The Dory Book fame), it covers hand and power saws, including chain saws. It's just $9.95, and seems to be one of those timeless books.

Should you be a subscriber to WoodenBoat magazine (and yes, you should) then you have likely seen the newest WB print issue November/December 235. It is appearing on the newsstands now, too. Plus we also have WB235 digital as a download, for those of you of the iPad/tablet/laptop and instant delivery persuasion.

And lastly, if you've been holding back on writing your wooden boat tales, we have a handy venue for you. Recently added to our woodenboat.com site is Your Turn... it's a moderated place to post your writing, and even a couple of images.
