National Kite Month (April) is coming right up. And we have you covered, with our colorful Ketch Kites. They go together in just a couple of minutes (faster if you read the directions) so you'll be flying a boat in no time. If you've got a breeze at night, you could follow in the footsteps of Moonsailors.
As we've mentioned Moonsailors, another truly charming item from Buck Smith is his Gloucester Rocker. Yes, we have the plans in stock. You'll find it's a shapely little dory which will create generations who will know how to rock the boat.
New from Narex: a high quality starter carving set, it contains 5 of the most used chisel shapes. Handles are about 4" long, and the set comes with a practice block of wood. If you're not familiar with Narex, they are a highly regarded, well established manufacturer in the Czech Republic. Click CARVING.
Wondering how and what to carve? We have a book for that: The Shipcarver's Handbook, by Jay Hanna. We pub'd it over 30 years ago and every few years we go back to press. It's just one of those nice, clear books on the topic, packed with techniques and drawings.
And lastly, if you're looking for a bit of inspiration, visit the LAUNCHINGS pages on the WoodenBoat site. Nothing hits closer to the core of what we do here than getting wooden boats built and launched. The site shows a healthy variety of boats, and includes info from the builder. And if you've recently built a boat, don't keep it a secret. Post it on the Launchings site. We're standing by.
