It's been a pretty good week for books, here in Brooklin, Maine. Our latest arrival is The Craft of Sail by Jan Adkins, which we just brought back into print. It's a keeper as it's now in hardcover, and we think it might be one of the more "gifted" items this coming season. You may recognize Jan's work on the cover of our latest catalog, as that illustration is from the book.
Another stunning book by designer/builder Paul Gartside is now in stock. Plans & Dreams, Volume 2 brings you more of a good thing. Same horizontal format, packed with beautiful drawings of boats you can build. We do have Volume 1 in stock... and the inside tip is, we have just a few copies left at the $45 price. When that Volume 1 stock is gone, the new shipment price goes up $5.00.
As mentioned in WB 265, we now stock Modern Marine Weather, third edition. This is not a light touch on the subject, but instead a comprehensive manual on the topic. Instead of simply complaining about the weather, you can do something about it -- be knowledgeable. Click WEATHER for more.
An updated version of Finding Pax by Kaci Cronkhite is now in print. Her first run sold out, and she has a new publisher, so if you missed out before, you're in luck. Click double-ender.
A Genius at His Trade is now available in softcover. Stan Grayson's book about Ray Hunt is an in-depth look of a most remarkable and influential designer. Stan writes "Hunt was an idea man. He saw things, dreamed of things, drew things, built things that none of his contemporaries ever did." Click RAY for more.
And lastly, the new November/December issue of WoodenBoat has landed, in both PRINT and DIGITAL formats. That's a Nat Benjamin skiff on the festive cover, a featured part of a community boatbuilding program.
