Going live today at 3pm eastern (-5 GMT) is the August issue of Small Boats Monthly. It features a lovely Ilur by François Vivier, a wild looking (sturgeon nosed) canoe designed for hunting and fishing in the Pacific Northwest, a couple of tool reviews, and more. Check it out. Bonus: here's a brief video of the featured Nauset Marsh Skiff available right now. And, double-bonus: there are over 125 short videos on the Small Boats Monthly YouTube Channel.

Mike O'Brien just hand-delivered the newest issue of Boat Design Quarterly. It's quite the treat, featuring six designs, including Captain Flint, a 17' plywood cat-schooner from Tad Roberts, and a Paul Gartside designed 25' double-ended Tancook Whaler. We now have two more 2019 calendars in stock. The Calendar of Wooden Boats with Ben Mendlowitz photography (and of course, Maynard Bray captions), and the Wooden Canoe calendar. Both are wall calendars, and open to a new photo each month.

Want a handy waterproof reference to help you get the most out of your charts? This is from Maptech, it's the Chart Symbols & On-the-Water Guide includes chart features, aids to navigation, selecting a safe path, obstructions, rules of the road, and more.

And lastly, there are many ways to enjoy boats. The Joe Youcha way is to build math skills, boatbuilding skills, and confidence skills in young people. Next week Joe (of Framing Square Math fame) will be here in Brooklin at our WoodenBoat School, teaching teachers to inspire students through boatbuilding. Yes, this course sold-out awhile ago, but you can learn more about his program, by visiting the Teaching With Small Boats Alliance site. You may want to sign-up for their newsletter.
