The smart folks at Weems & Plath have come out with another handy safety item. You may recall their innovative SOS light which replaces flares (heads-up... price just dropped from $99 to $89). They now have the CrewWatcher. You attach the beacon to your life vest, and if you go overboard, it activates, sending your location to the (free) App. Getting to the overboard person (or pet...) can be faster, and time can be a big factor. Plus it makes those man-overboard drills all the more interesting.

We now have two more deep-etched logo'd glasses: a pint glass, and a double-old fashioned (rocks) glass. (These are in addition to the stemless wine glasses.) The pint has the WB logo with an oval etched out, and the rocks glass has more of a rectangle etched out (leaving the logo proud). Good looking glasses at a reasonable price. You can get them in sets of four, or singularly.

Our WoodenBoat Show reminder: you can order items for pick-up at the show. Give us a call at 1.800.273.7447 and we're happy to take your order and have items waiting for you at our Store booth. While we bring lots of goodies to the show, we don't bring everything. Plus it saves you on shipping. The WB Show is once again at Mystic Seaport Museum, in Mystic CT., and runs June 22-24.

A NASA and boatbuilding connection? Read the Paul Lazarus piece in the latest Professional BoatBuilder for the skinny. It's on the PBB site as well as in the print issue.

Looking for some nice rudder hardware? We've carried this type for ages, which helps avoid loss when grounding... here's a 7 second video that shows how it works.

Several years ago we published a book by Rich Kolin titled Building Catherine. It's a traditionally built whitehall-esque design (you can build it right from the book) that so caught the attention of some folks in the Netherlands, that they've build a small fleet of them. For more about Catherine, click the Small Boats Monthly article.

And lastly, if you know a young person who loves the water and is thinking about making something in that mode their vocation, there's a new magnet school opening this fall in Searsport, Maine called the Maine Ocean School. It's a featured link on our Resources page.
