Look what just arrived: Vacationland, by John Hodgman. You may be aware of him from The Daily Show, or the Apple "I'm a Mac, and I'm a PC" commercials (he's the PC) from a few years back. Or perhaps you've listened to his Judge John Hodgman podcast. This book is quite different than his prior humor books. Vacationland will pleasantly surprise you by the heartfelt, honest (and yes, wicked funny) writing. Mr. Hodgman won't name the small town in Maine he refers to, but it was the home of a well-known writer, whose son started a now well-known boatyard, and whose grandson now runs the yard.

Three more books just arrived, although these are not newly published. We have a boxed set of three favorites from EB White: Charlotte's Web, Stuart Little, and The Trumpet of the Swan. And they're a heckuva deal at $20. These are beautifully written stories, but you probably knew that. We also carry One Man's Meat, as well as EB White on Dogs... just because.

Tomorrow marks the launching of a new Small Boats Monthly issue. Look for it around noon west coast time. With our semi recent change-over in platforms, Small Boats Monthly now allows you to read a full article before actually signing-up. At $2.99 a month, it's a steal, and at $29.99 a year, it's a bigger steal. The icing? With your subscription you get access to every issue published—which started in September of 2014. That's over 40 issues. I believe I hear an "AMEN!".

And lastly, we have very good news for those of you who enjoy reading stuff via the Kindle App (therefore iPhone, iPad, Android, etc) as well as on an actual Kindle. WoodenBoat magazine is now available in Kindle format. The digital subscription is $26.00 a year, and you have a 30 day trial (cancellation is actually quite easy—we tested it), plus if you are new to the Kindle App, they let you read a slew of books for the first 7 days, at no charge. Click Kindle to get started.
