Just in time for summer, we've added a pair of pretty nice all cotton Women's cut V-neck shirts, with a discreet tone-on-tone embroidered WoodenBoat logo. Choose from Charcoal or Violet. We've been told by someone in the know, that they are just the right amount of "V", not too shallow and not too deep. (Thanks, GB.)
These caught our eye: shell jewelry from DMG designs of Maine. The Mussel Necklace, and Mussel Earrings are coated in resin after the outer shell is dressed in copper paint. And we have Clam Shell Necklaces and Clam Shell Earrings, also dressed-up with a coat of clear resin. Guess that means the wearer will be dressed-up.
And if you're ready to pull-out all the stops, why not present those new earrings and necklaces in a proper box? We have three jewelry boxes which are beautifully made from several gorgeous woods. The joinery and finish both inside and out, is extraordinary.
The new July/August WoodenBoat issue is now available in both print and digital formats. If you get the digital subscription, you can share articles with your friends, like this article on building a Royal Lowell lobsterboat. By the way, we happen to publish the classic Royal Lowell book, Boatbuilding Down East mentioned in the article.
Small Boats Monthly, our on-line publication, is in the midst of a facelift. Now it has a classifieds section, upcoming events, and a new "topics" tab where you'll find the Editor's column as well as groupings of topics, like reader-built boats, boat profiles, techniques, and more. And a mobile app is in progress. You'll also notice a banner note about resetting your password for your subscription access. Yep, you'll want to do that.
And lastly, The WoodenBoat Show is about a week away. If you are bringing your kids, or grandkids, consider being there on Saturday, July 1, 1:30 at the Masin Room in the new Thompson Exhibition building (North Entrance). Joe Youcha is doing a KIDS BOATS & MATH event. Kids will build a Bevins skiff from card stock, and in the process, get a handle on math used everyday by boatbuilders. Joe is the former director of the Alexandria Seaport Foundation, and founded "Building to Teach". You'll find more about Building to Teach on our Resources page, it's a featured listing near the top. Yes, there's also a link to the Seaport Foundation.
