August 31, 2016To: WoodenBoat Devotees
It's getting to be that time of year. We can tell because two more 2017 calendars are now in stock: Classic Motorboats by the brothers Wangard of Classic Boating magazine, and Classic Sail by Kathy Mansfield. You'll see Kathy's work featured in WoodenBoat as well as the UK publication Water Craft magazine. FYI... both of these calendars sold-out by early November last year.
Just arrived: our new Gray Fleece Vest, with WB logo (and logotype) in Ivory thread. And yes, we still have the Maroon vests as well. Layer up!
Tomorrow the new Small Boats Monthly hits your favorite digital device, and word is a Guillemot drawn by Iain Oughtred will be included, as well as a Clint Chase outboard skiff, and a Shell Schooner 18. Good boats you shouldn't miss.
If you happen to be in the Port Townsend, Washington neighborhood from Sept 9-11, do drop in at the Wooden Boat Festival, for three days of peace, love, and boats. Plus you can chat with WoodenBoat magazine editor Tom Jackson.
And a bit closer to (our) home, you are all invited to the annual Schooner Sail-in at our WoodenBoat waterfront on Tuesday, September 13. Boats usually arrive late afternoon. It's a party atmosphere with more than a dozen schooners, and steel band music. Come early, make a day of it, bring a picnic lunch (no food in town, so be sure to prep those deviled eggs in advance) and make use of our pretty nice facilities. Don't forget the camera and binocs.
And lastly, the highly regarded IBEX Show is almost upon us, doors open October 4-6 in Tampa, Florida. If you're in the boatbuilding trade (wood as well as other materials) the seminars and trade exhibitions make this is a huge show for the marine industry. IBEX was created in 1992, the brainchild of our sister publication, Professional BoatBuilder magazine.
