The story of the restoration of a Herreshoff 12 1/2 told by writer Daniel Robb. Odds are you will hear a lot about this book, as it's the writing that draws one in. Reviewed in WB No. 203 (July/Aug 08), it's noted that "The key to non-fiction writing is to imbue it with human interest."
What the reviewer may not have noticed was the fine-print on the copyright page of Sloop: "The names and identifying details of some individuals in this book have been changed. Dialogue has been re-created, and some characters are composites." For some, that may put the book into the category of another well-written book, A Million Little Pieces by James Fry. Others will simply enjoy the good read, as well as the insights to Herreshoff's famous little boat.
