Powered by the sun, wind (as in hand-crank, not breeze) as well as being charged by AC adapter. These never ever EVER need batteries. Color is a red with black.Turn the hand crank for 1/2 a minute, and you will get about 35 minutes of airplay. The radio will run off the solar panel exclusively, and, if the sun is strong enough, it will actually add additional charge to the battery.
For optimum battery life, the battery should be charged for 24 hours prior to use, and, should be fully discharged before recharging.
