There’s an old saying that goes something like “what
separates the men from the boys is the price of their toys.” They must have been talking about this model kit. Tugs are the kind of boats that make grown men act just like young boys. You’ll see that look in their eyes, and you’ll hear that tone in their voice. This kit is so well set up, there will be no tantrums part way through the project.
Based on the original San Francisco Bay Tug, she was designed from her original blueprints and photos from the family and the San Francisco National Maritime Historical Park. The model is built strip-planked, using balsa strips over die-cut frames and keel; a hull building jig is supplied. Additionally, the kit includes all required fittings, cast metal details, photo-etched components, a complete running hardware package, as well an electric motor. If you decide to run it, you’ll need to add battery or remote controls.
